On December 1, the names, biographical information, and written responses of all potential nominees will be published.
The election will take place during the 113th Diocesan Council on Saturday, February 25, 2017, in Corpus Christi. In preparation for the election, the Standing Committee will host three Discernment Forums:
- Saturday, January 28, 9:00am – Noon, at St. Alban’s, Harlingen;
- Saturday, January 28, 4:00pm – 7:00pm, at Church of the Good Shepherd, Corpus Christi; and
- Sunday, January 29, 3:00pm – 6:00pm, at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, San Antonio.
Detailed information regarding these forums will be distributed in December. The Standing Committee encourages Clergy and Delegates/Alternates to Council to attend.
The members of the Diocese have the opportunity to submit topics and questions to possibly be addressed by potential nominees during these forums. E-mail suggestions to Laura Woodall by December 31.
We invite the congregations and people of the Diocese to keep this discernment process in their prayers:
Almighty God, we give thanks that you have called forth leaders throughout the generations who boldly proclaim your love. Call forth through us a bishop who proclaims Christ’s resurrection, and who faithfully interprets the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and who will lead us – the church – into the world in His Name, encouraging the saints and nourishing us from the riches of your grace. So guide the hearts and minds of those who will discern the person you are calling to be our Bishop Suffragan, so that we may receive a faithful pastor who will guard and govern the church, sustain the presbyters, care for your people, and equip us to serve the world in Christ’s Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
